Gossips

Gossips are worse than thieves because they steal another person’s dignity, honor, reputation and credibility which are impossible to restore.

So remember this: when your feet slip, you can always recover your balance; but when your tongue slips, you cannot recover your words.  Author Unknown

Faithful Friday

A Pencil Maker Told The Pencil 5 Important Lessons Just Before Putting It In The Box:

1.) Everything You Do Will Always Leave A Mark.

2.) You Can Always Correct The Mistakes You Make.

3.) What Is Important Is What Is Inside Of You.

4.) In Life, You Will Undergo Painful Sharpenings, Which Will Only Make You Better.

5.) To Be The Best Pencil, You Must Allow Yourself To Be Held And Guided By The Hand That Holds You.

We all need to be constantly sharpened.  This parable may encourage you to know that you are a special person, with unique God-given talents and abilities.  Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish.  Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what’s inside of you and then allow yourself to be guided by the hand of God.

Something to think about

Life is truly beautiful when we know we have made a difference. No matter how small or insignificant that difference might seem to you, for the one receiving it, it could mean the world. The smallest gestures sometimes mean the most.  -Anita Papas

“Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you – not because they are nice, but because you are.” – Unknown

“Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.” – Unknown

“Don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t waste energy trying to cover up failure. Learn from your failures and go on to the next challenge. It’s OK to fail. If you’re not failing, you’re not growing.” – Anne Sullivan

” When life gives you 100 reason to CRY, show life that you have 1000 reason to SMILE. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.”-Emmanuel Tiwo

I Remember 9/11 Very Well

‎2,997 people died. 411 people risked their lives to save others. At least 200 people jumped or fell to their deaths. 2 beautiful buildings destroyed. 246 people got on an airplane and never got to see their families again. PAST this in honor to everyone that lost their life on 9-11 ♥  (Thank you Imani for these numbers)

September 11, 2001, Rachel was 5 days old.  She came 4 days early.  My mom was to arrive September 10th but her flight was grounded for 2 hours already and they gave the customers an option to wait it out or take the next flight out on September 11th.  She decided to wait the next day because it was already late that day.  That morning I woke up with Rachel by my side and the TV was on.  On the TV I saw smoke coming from a tower then a plane crashing into the other.  I asked my husband, “what movie is that?”  I thought it was the movie “Die Hard”.  He said he didn’t know then we heard the news announce that the Twin Towers were being attacked!!  Say What?!?!  I must be delirious because waking up every 2 hours or so to nurse the baby can do that to you. Nope, it was real and I was reaching for the phone.  My mom was due to arrive that day and the departure time was near.  The phone lines were tied up.  My heart beating a little fast right now.  Friends were calling me to see if my mom was okay but I hadn’t heard from her yet.  I finally heard from her and she was safe. Thank you Lord!!  She hadn’t left yet because she was waiting for my dad to come home from work (graveyard shift).  He had just gotten off the subways before the terror began. Hallelujah!!  Thank God for their safety.  But so very sad for those who lost their lives and for their families and who’s to say that it was all over?  My mom didn’t make it down until a couple of months later.  She was too freaked out to get on a plane.  I don’t blame her.  I will never forget!!!  Thank you to all of the heroes out there.  God Bless America!!

Join the Secret Service (by Kirk Weisler)

The greatest pleasure I know is to do a good action by stealth, and to have it found out by accident.  – Charles Lamb (1775-1834) British Essayist

I loved a story I heard about a high school girl who started her own Secret Service group.  She any other members of this Secret Service didn’t wear patches or advertise their membership in this elite team of Secret Servers.  But what they did do was listen closely to what was happening in the ranks of the student body.  If a student of any grade level in their school was hurting from a major break up, a hard family situation or any manner of emotional distress…. they Secret Service knew about it.  And those students in need would often arrive to school and find that fresh baked cookies had been placed inside their lockers with anonymous notes of support and encouragement attached.

As soon as I heard the story… I wanted to be a part of the Secret Service.    An open mind, and not just a heart that is willing to serve…but one that is wanting to serve are just the basic attributes needed for the SECRET SERVICE.  I immediately began practicing and conditioning my mind, body and spirit ….so that I could pass the selection criteria to enter in this elect group.

I invite you to do the same.

Lift Your Half Full Glass and Hold It (post by Kirk Weisler)

If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else. -Booker T. Washington

A young lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining stress management to an audience; with a raised glass of water, and everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, ‘half empty or half full?’….. she fooled them all… “How heavy is this glass of water?”, she inquired with a smile.

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem.  If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance. In each case it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.” She continued, “and that’s the way it is with stress. If we carry our burdens
all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on.”

“As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.  When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the burden – holding stress longer and better each time practiced. So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night… pick them up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you’re carrying now, let them down for a moment. Relax, pick them up later after you’ve rested. Life is short. Enjoy it and the now ’supposed’ stress that you’ve conquered!”

1 * Accept the fact that some days you’re the pigeon, and some days you’re the statue!

2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

3 * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

4 * Drive carefully… It’s not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker..

5 * If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague

6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it..

7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

8 * Never buy a car you can’t push.

9 * Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won’t have a leg to stand on.

10 * Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.

11 * Since it’s the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

12 * The second mouse gets the cheese.

13 * When everything’s coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane.

14 * Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

15 * You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

16 * Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

17 * We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

18 * A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

19 * Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today.

Don’t Get Angry, Make a Fist (by FYI Living )

Fist pump your problems away

While you may think that clenching your fists and gritting your teeth is a sign that you are about to lose control, in fact, those classic muscle tensing moves may actually be helping you keep your cool. Really. According to new research, our angry fists of frustration may actually help us find our inner Zen.

The study gets more fascinating. What if we told you that clenching your fists when hearing news of a major national disaster might make you more charitable? That’s right, the participants that clenched their fists in anger when hearing about a tragedy, in turn gave more money to the cause.

How is it possible that physically acting “angry” makes us, well, better people? The researchers suspect that when we are faced with a major problem we may naturally clench our fists. This physical manifestation of our inner emotions may ground us and allow us to pull from our inner strength. We literally “grit” our teeth through the bad times for a reason, because by clenching our muscles we’re physically summoning our willpower.
