Never Judge Anyone

A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call ASAP, changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block.
He found the boy’s father waiting in the hall. Once seeing him, the dad yelled: “Why did you take all this time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have the sense of responsibility?”

The doctor smiled and said: “I am sorry, I wasn’t in the hospital and I came as fast as I could after receiving the call…… And now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work.”

“Calm down? What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son died, what would you do?” said the father angrily.

The doctor smiled again and replied: “I will say what Job said in the Holy Bible, “From dust we came and to dust we return, blessed be the name of God.” Doctors cannot prolong lives. Go and intercede for your son, we will do our best by God’s grace.”

“Giving advice when not concerned is so easy,” murmured the father.

The surgery took many hours, after which the doctor went out happily, “Thank God! Your son is saved!” And without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way, running. “If you have any questions, ask the nurse!!”

“Why is he so arrogant? He couldn’t wait so I could ask about my son’s state?” the father questioned the nurse.

The nurse answered, tears coming down her face: “His son died yesterday in an accident, he was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery. And now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burial.”

NEVER JUDGE ANYONE because you never know how their life is, what is happening, or what they are going through.

Free for $5 Dollars? (post from Kirk W.)

I wanted a smile today…. so I dug back into the T4D archives looking for one and found the “Idiot Sightings” from 2004.  The sad fact that I can relate to at least 2 of them was enough to make me smile & laugh.  I hope it has the same magical effect on you.
IDIOT SIGHTING #1:  I work with an individual who plugged his power strip back into itself and for the life of him couldn’t understand why his system would not turn on.e same magical effect on you.

IDIOT SIGHTING #2:  I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, “Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?” To which I replied, “If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?” He smiled knowingly and nodded, “That’s why we ask.”

IDIOT SIGHTING #3  At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear co-worker who was leaving the company due to “downsizing,” our manager commented cheerfully, “This is fun. We should do this more often.” Not a word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the- headlights stare.

IDIOT SIGHTING #4:  When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. “Hey,” I announced to the technician, “It’s open!” To which he replied, “I know – I already got that side.”

Just keep your money…. and make it a great day.  :)

15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy (shared by K.W.)

“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon, instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.”  –Dale Carnegie

1. Give up your need to always be right.

2. Give up your need for control.

“By letting it go, it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning.” Lao Tzu

3. Give up on blame.

4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk.

“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive.” Eckhart Tolle

5. Give up your limiting beliefs.

“A belief is not an idea held by the mind, it is an idea that holds the mind.” Elly Roselle

6. Give up complaining.

7. Give up the luxury of criticism.

8. Give up your need to impress others.

9. Give up your resistance to change.

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls.” Joseph Campbell

10. Give up labels.

“The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.” Dr. Wayne Dyer

11. Give up on your fears.

“The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.” Franklin D. Roosevelt

12. Give up your excuses.

13. Give up the past.

14. Give up attachment.

15. Give up living your life to other people’s expectations.

Donuts and Reading Slowly (post from Kirk Weisler)

Here are some thoughts from Rebecca’s (Kirk’s wife) Words of Wisdom and the wall of a Donut shop.

As you ramble on through life, brother, whatever be your goal, keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole. -on the wall at “Dippy Donuts” in Omaha, NE;

“Learning to read is a lifetime process and it increasingly has enemies.  Its principle enemies at the moment are the mass media and that dreadful thing that our modern society has forced upon us: the need to read quickly.   Our major task is not to learn read quickly but to learn to read slowly – slow enough to have some understanding of what we are reading.  The more quickly we read, the fewer our thoughts will be, but the more slowly we read, the more our thoughts will come pouring in.  It is not the speed at which we read that counts, but the speed at which thoughts come.”  Arthur Henry King

Words of Wisdom (Post from Kirk Weisler)

My wife Rebecca is always gathering bits of wisdom and adding them to her “Words of Wisdom” notebook.  Over the years it’s grown quite extensive…and (in my opinion) should be published.  Last night I picked up and found several keepers on the very first page here are just 3 from the categories of “Agency” and “Adversity”

“Take hold of your life and order yourself to be valiant.”  ~Boyd K Packer

“Why we do what we do is more important than what we do.”  ~E. Jensen

“Pain is God’s megaphone to arouse a deaf world.”  ~C.S. Lewis

“Complaining is the seed of a depressed soul.”  ~ unattributed

“Our encounters with reality and disappointment are actually vital stages in the development of our maturity and understanding.” ~ Bruce C Haven

“The problem is not that there are problems.  The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem.  ~ Theodore Rubin

Have a great weekend… and if you have a few problems….just think “Problems, are no problem.”

Open Heart

We should always keep our hearts open. For if we view someone and our vision is clouded with ignorance, then we will tend to pick out and magnify their flaws!

If we are willing to keep an open mind and are willing to accept them as they are, then we will tend to overlook them!

~Jon Hawks

Every Problem (post from Kirk Weisler)

Image

Here are a few lines from the book, Getting Things Done Fast by David Allen.

Every “problem” comes down to two things:

1)  You know what you want, but you don’t know how to get it

2)  You don’t know what you want

Nobody can say they have a problem that doesn’t boil down to one of those two things.  You have to make it up or make it happen.

“You only complain about things that you assume should be different than they currently are – you’re just not taking the risk to make it so.”
