Finding the Snooze Button (post by Kirk Weisler)

* 23 ADULT TRUTHS*

1 Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is. (I can relate to this)

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. (hey, did my wife send this one in?)

3. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger. (ditto)

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet.

6. Was learning cursive really necessary? (I use it when I sign checks…which is almost never)

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died. ( I so agree)

9. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind-of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.  ( I really really like this one)

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren’t going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.   (Hopefully this is not the moment you first show up to work!)

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don’t want to have to restart my collection … again.

13 . I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Light than Kay.

17. I wish Google Maps had an “Avoid Ghetto” routing option.

18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. (me too)

19. How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear or understand a word they said?

20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong brothers and sisters!

21.  Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

22. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the tail on the Donkey – but I’d bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.  BRILLIANT)

23. The first testicular guard, the “Cup,” was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only look 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important. ( does this mean this was written by a woman? )

Ladies …. Quit Laughing

Make it a great day… no snoozing..find your way!!

Wow!! This little girl gave me goosebumps!

If you only look at one video this year, let it be this one. ENJOY!!

We’ll probably see this child on America’s Got Talent one of these days!  Hard to believe she’s 5!  Now, THIS is the way to sing the National Anthem.  Notice the body language of this 5 year old…be prepared to have your socks knocked off.

Thanx Carol for sharing.

Perfect??

Jacob cheated, Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Moses committed murder, Gideon was insecure, Miriam gossiped, Martha worried, Thomas doubted, Sara was impatient, Elijah was moody, Zacchaeus was short, Abraham was old & Lazarus was dead. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the CALLED! God is greater than our imperfections. (Post from Sherrill Littlejohn Statewright)

Thursdays Wisdom

I know some days you feel like you can’t cope and you feel like everything and everyone is against you. But that isn’t the case. You are a strong person and you know it. You have been through so much in your life and it’s been hard for you, but that’s why you know you can get through those hard times, because you have done it before. No one is against you, a lot of them just want to be there for you, so let them in. And to the people who are against you, then ignore them and prove them all wrong. Stop comparing yourself to others, you are a beautiful, even if other people can’t see it. So what, everyone has flaws, stop focusing on them and focus on the beautiful things about you. Oh and one last thing, live life for now, enjoy it and be happy. Because one day you are going to look back on these days and I want you to be able to smile. So go and enjoy every minute of it. Stay positive.-Wisdom Quotes

Disagreeable People…Don’t Be One

Disagreeable people can be among the greatest joy-suckers in our work and personal lives.  While I do have the occasional temptation to just dismiss them as entirely useless and pathetic….  I have also to come to pity them to some degree because of their utter lack of awareness as to why people generally avoid them.

Unique Hide and Seek (post by Kirk Weisler)

“That which you or I think is most unique about ourselves we hide. In ordinary discourse, in the normal state, we share our common self, our superficial self. Yet what is most unique about us is what has the greatest potential for bonding us. When we share our uniqueness, we discover the commonality in greatness that defines everyone on the planet.”  Robert C. Quinn

We must strive to stop hiding our uniqueness.   Far too many have become expert at hiding… and incapable of sharing…. no wonder we are not bonding.

I’m afraid to hide anything these days…because I forget where I put stuff.  We must share it, before we lose it…or forget where we hid it…or that we ever had it.

I’ve been told that I am unique in the way that  I am always happy happy joy joy!!  And Kirk has been told that he’s unique in the way that he speaks.

What have you been told?

What’s unique about you?

Cruel, Stupid, Rude… or just Frightened? (by Kirk Weisler)

“Whenever encountering a troublesome person, do not identify him as being cruel or stupid or rude or anything else like that. Instead, see him as a frightened person.”   ~ Vernon Howard

We all know people who are habitually rude, obnoxious, or just plain jerks.  Why they behave that way is usually based in some form of
fear.  Fear of being found out, fear of the unknown, or fear of being hurt (this one has many forms).

Yoda …may have been a fictional character but he taught a wise truth when he said… “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate…and hate leads to the Dark Side!”

The opposite of fear if faith… or a belief and a hope that things can get better, things can work out, that we can do it, or that others will and do want to help us succeed.  Nurturing faith and hope through the creation of vision in others is one of the greatest challenges of leadership.  But, hey… I know you can do it!!  ~ Kirk

Train Blog – 12/8

I have an doctor appt today so I am riding the train during midday. Note to self: Drive in!! Stupid fools ride the train during midday. I am force to hear a “wanna be rapper” (caution – explicit lyrics) rapping and using the windows as a beat box. Ugh!! Then people outside walking in front of a moving train, taking their sweet ole time and forcing the driver to brake, drive, brake, slow down then stop. Made the driver mad which caused her to get on the loud speaker (that can be heard outside) to say “keep taking your slow azz time!!!”. Lol lol lol. CASULTY!! And last but not least, conversation of this guy looking out the window saying “they let him out already? I just got out, how that possible?” Hide your wife, hide your keys!! The joy of riding the train.
