Many years ago one of our wonderful subscribers, Karen Staebell, posted this response to T4D. I invite you to take special note of the very last sentence.
Peace requires one to let go of the urges to judge others for what they do or do not do.
It means taking things one at a time and letting go of worry over things that cannot be controlled or changed.
Accepting people for who they are without trying to guess at their motivation puts us on a path to a peaceful existence.
Accepting, without guessing, places us on a more peaceful path.
There are certain stories that just get stuck in your head…changing the way you look at life. In the next three minutes, you’re about to experience one of those stories.
It’ll illustrate, more than words can say, the #1 thing you can do to transform your entire life…and the lives of those around you.

An 8-year-old boy who spent his savings to help keep others safe is a lesson in kindness for all of us.
Hector Montoya heard about a fire near his Texas town that killed a mother and her child. The family didn’t have working smoke detectors.
Hector decided to take all the money he was saving and buy smoke detectors for people who needed them.
“I was saving the $300 for a PS4 but I said saving a life is more important,” Hector said. “It really hurts my heart to see people die in a fire.”
This past weekend, Hector, with the help of his local fire department, installed nearly 100 smoke detectors. His friends and neighbors also joined the effort.
Hector ended up getting his PS4 after all. Someone who saw his good deed on the news bought him one.
Ever have trouble remembering where you just left your keys? Just laugh it off. New research suggests that humor can improve short-term memory in older adults.
In a recent small study conducted at Loma Linda University in Southern California, 20 normal, healthy, older adults watched a funny video distraction-free for 20 minutes, while a control group sat calmly with no video. Afterwards, they performed memory tests and had saliva samples analyzed for stress hormones.
You guessed it; those who got to laugh the 20 minutes away with the funny video scored better on short-term memory tests, researchers said. And salivary levels of the stress hormone cortisol — a memory enemy of sorts — were significantly decreased in the humor group.
“Learning ability and delayed recall become more challenging as we age,” said study author Dr. Gurinder S. Bains, a Ph.D. candidate in Rehabilitation Sciences. “Laughing with friends or even watching 20 minutes of humor on TV, as I do daily, helps me cope with my daily stressors.”
The less stress you have, researchers said, the better your memory. It works like this: humor reduces stress hormones, lowers your blood pressure, and increases your mood state, according to Dr. Lee Berk, a co-author of the study and associate professor of Allied Heath.
The act of laughter — or simply enjoying some humor — increases endorphins, sending dopamine to the brain to provide a sense of pleasure and reward, Berk said.
That, in turn, makes the immune system work better and changes brain wave activity towards what’s called a “gamma frequency,” amping up memory and recall.
Want to lower your stress levels?
“Begin by laughing more daily,” Bains said. “It will improve your quality of life.”
So, maybe you don’t have to feel bad about all that time you spend watching funny videos at work?
Here’s a video to get you started!! Have a groovy day!!
You can have anything you want — if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose. – Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) 16th President of the United States
Say What?? I can be ANYTHING?!?!?!
Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul; the blue prints of your ultimate accomplishments. — Napoleon Hill (1883-1970) American Motivational Speaker
Now here is the culmination of those two quotes realized by a young boy who had a vision and wanted it… badly.
Just when you thought your job was tough… imagine interviewing for the a job that asks for medical, culinary, and educational skills… pays nothing and requires 135 plus hours a week. This was clever… ( I think it might be fun to do something similar on a true servant leader )
American Greetings created a phony “director of operations” position at the fictional “Rehtom Inc.” that came with a ridiculous workload, including no time to sleep, working “135 to unlimited hours per week,” and a salary of $0. Twenty four people actually applied for the job, and their interviews were captured on webcam video. At the end of each interview, it’s revealed who is already doing the impossibly difficult job described: Moms.

The First 40 Seconds of a 79-Year-Old Woman’s Routine on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Had Simon Yawning — The Last 2:20 Brought Him to His Feet
When Paddy and Nico took the stage this weekend to perform for “Britain’s Got Talent,” the judges didn’t seem to expect much. The first 40 seconds confirmed that: In fact, judges and members of the audience could be seen staring off in the distance and Simon Cowell even yawned and buzzed them to show his displeasure.
Almost exactly at that moment, something incredible happened. And what unfolded over the next two minutes involving several incredible moves eventually brought Simon to his feet.
I am pretty sure my arms would fall off if I tried to do that. But I am also pretty sure that Einstein was right when he said, “Once you stop learning, you start dying.”
While some might look forward to retirement from their profession – we should be careful we never retire from learning. And like this sweet woman Paddy… we should never feel we are too old to get back in classroom and pick up where we left off. We can kick the bucket, or we can kick up our heels in learning. Thanks Paddy you have inspired millions…. and me too!
I come to the office each morning and stay for long hours doing what has to be done to the best of my ability. And when you’ve done the best you can you can’t do any better. — Harry S. Truman
Will do my best today… and on the weekend too!
Speaking of ”BEST” – can I just say thank you to each one of you reading this… YOU ARE THE BEST and I love knowing that you are out there!
