“This picture just makes me happy.” (post from Frank Somerville)

That’s what one person said about this scene.
It’s nothing earth shattering.
Just a simple act of kindness.
A young employee from a Hardee’s in Knoxville Tennessee.
Helping an elderly woman back to her car.
It was posted on the Hardee’s Facebook page.

David Yardley took the picture and this was his caption:
It really was just a kind moment to witness between your worker and an elderly lady.
I came through the drive through and went across the street and just happened to look over at Hardees as I pumped my gas and happened to see this as it took place.
Your worker had been cleaning the glass when the (elderly woman) started out to her ride.
He stopped what he was doing and took her by the hand and helped her across the sidewalk and parking lot to her ride.
It just really spoke to me, I guess since so much negative media lately has been around the race card.
Black and white young and old all come together in this picture.
I watched as he continued to help her until she was in the car and left.
I admire this young man and appreciate his kindness.

The young man’s name is Kailen Young.
And Hardee’s ended up giving him $1000 to show their appreciation.
Afterword he told WBIR-TV:
“It’s just a normal thing for me.
(The reaction has) been very humbling, very heartwarming.”
Bobbi Clare is the woman he helped.
She told WBIR-TV:
“I felt a little touch of heaven, that kindness and goodness in the world.
We need that so much, don’t we?”
We sure do.
Slow Down Mummy….
Slow down mummy, there is no need to rush,
slow down mummy, what is all the fuss?
Slow down mummy, make yourself a cup tea.
Slow down mummy, come and spend some time with me.
Slow down mummy, let’s put our boots on and go out for a walk,
let’s kick at piles of leaves, and smile and laugh and talk.
Slow down mummy, you look ever so tired,
come sit and snuggle under the duvet and rest with me a while.
Slow down mummy, those dirty dishes can wait,
slow down mummy, let’s have some fun, let’s bake a cake!
Slow down mummy I know you work a lot,
but sometimes mummy, its nice when you just stop.
Sit with us a minute,
& listen to our day,
spend a cherished moment,
because our childhood is not here to stay!

Laughter Is an Instant Vacation (by Simple Truth)
You know, sometimes life just gets too serious…too busy…and too complicated. We don’t mean for it to happen, but we wake up one morning to discover the fun has slipped away.
Several years ago a health study determined there are 3 main reasons people can’t cope in life:
- They live in the past.
- They have a low self-esteem.
- They can’t laugh at themselves.
In fact, the study indicated that we need approximately 12 laughs a day to stay healthy!
I heard a story not long ago about a guy who sent flowers to his friend who was opening a new restaurant. When he arrived at the grand opening, he looked for his flowers. Well, when he found them, he saw that he had sent a white wreath that said, “May you rest in peace.” He panicked, of course, and called the florist who said, “Bob, I’m not worried about you because as we speak, there’s a guy being buried who got a dozen roses that said, ‘Good luck in your new location!’”

Ah yes…life throws us curve balls when we least expect it! And sometimes, just to stay sane, we need to sit back and laugh!
That’s what this little book is all about…making you laugh. It is filled with 250 humorous quotes on life paired with very funny photos. It’s 160 pages of pure unadulterated fun!
Today I’d like to share a few of my favorite quotes from this book. Enjoy!

“My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I’ve finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already.” —Dave Barry
“If you love something, set it free. Unless it’s chocolate. Never release chocolate.”
—Renee Duvall
“The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for 30 years she served us nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found.” —Calvin Trillin
“I haven’t spoken to my wife in years. I didn’t want to interrupt her.” —Rodney Dangerfield
“My husband wanted one of those big-screen TVs for his birthday. So I just moved his chair closer to the one we have already.” —Wendy Liebman
“My grandmother is over eighty and still doesn’t need glasses. Drinks right out of the bottle.” – Henny Youngman
Never Give Up!!
Post from Ahmed Refaat
This is one of the SADDEST stories ever told in Hollywood. His name is Sylvester Stallone. One of the BIGGEST and Most famous American Movie superstars. Back inthe day, Stallone was a
struggling actor in every definition. At some point, he got so broke that he stole his wife’s jewellery and sold it. Things got so bad that he even ended up homeless. Yes, he slept at the New York bus station for 3 days. Unable to pay rent or afford food. His lowest point came when he tried to sell his dog at the liquor store to any
stranger. He didn’t have money to feed the dog anymore. He sold it at $25 only. He says he walked away crying.
Two weeks later,he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner and that match gave him the inspiration to write the script for the famous movie,ROCKY. He wrote the script for 20 hours! He tried to sell it and got an offer for $125,000 for the script. But he had just ONE REQUEST. He wanted to STAR in
the movie. He wanted to be the MAIN ACTOR. Rocky himself. But the studio said NO. They wanted a REAL STAR.
They said he “Looked funny and talked funny”. He left with his script. A few weeks later, the studio offered him $250,000 for the script. He refused. They even offered $350,000. He still refused. They wanted his movie. But NOT him. He said NO. He had to be
IN THAT MOVIE.
After a while, the studio agreed, gave him $35,000 for the script and let him star in it! The rest is history! The movie won Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Film Editing at the prestigious
Oscar Awards. He was even nominated for BEST ACTOR! The Movie ROCKY was even inducted into the American National Film Registry as one of the greatest movies ever!
And do You know the first thing he bought with the $35,000? THE DOG HE SOLD. Yes,Stallone LOVED HIS DOG SO MUCH that he stood at the liquor store for 3 days waiting for the man he sold
his dog to. And on the 3rd day,he saw the man coming with the dog. Stallone explained why he sold the dog and begged for the dog back. The man refused. Stallone offered him $100. The
man refused. He offered him $500. And the guy refused. Yes,he refused even $1000. And,Believe it or Not,Stallone had to pay $15,000 for the same, same dog he sold at $25 only! And he
finally got his dog back!
And today, the same Stallone who slept in the streets and sold his dog JUST BECAUSE he couldn’t even feed it anymore,is one of the GREATEST Movie Stars who ever walked the Earth!
Being broke is BAD. Really BAD. Have You ever had a dream? A wonderful dream? But You are too broke to implement it? Too tiny to do it? Too small to accomplish it? Damn! I’ve been there too many times!
Life is tough. Opportunities will pass you by,just because you are a
NOBODY. People will want your products but NOT YOU. It’s a tough
world. If you ain’t already famous, or rich or “connected”, You will find it rough.
Doors will be shut on You. People will steal your glory and crash your hopes. You will push and push. And yet NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.
And then your hopes will be crashed. You will be broke. Damn broke. You will do odd jobs for survival. You will be unable to feed yourself. And Yes, you may end up sleeping in the streets.
It happens. Yes, it does.
BUT NEVER LET THEM CRUSH THAT DREAM. Whatever happens to
You, Keep Dreaming. Even when they crush your hopes, Keep Dreaming. Even when they turn you away, Keep Dreaming.
Even when they shut you down, Keep Dreaming.
NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF EXCEPT YOURSELF! People will judge You by HOW you look. And by WHAT You have.
But please, Fight on! Fight for Your place in history. Fight for your glory. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!
Even if it means selling all your clothes and sleeping with the dogs, ITS OKAY! But AS LONG AS YOU ARE STILL ALIVE, Your STORY IS NOT OVER. TRUST ME.
Keep Up the Fight. Keep your dreams and hope alive. Go great .
Like and share if inspired. Lovely day people!
If Daniel Can Do It, So Can You!! (post by Frank Somerville KTVU)
You can learn a lot from a kid.
I saw this picture this morning and it stopped me in my tracks.
This little boy is named Daniel.
He is homeless.
But he’s also determined to do well in school.
So he set up a bench and is using the light from a McDonalds restaurant in the Philippines to do his homework.
The picture was taken by a college student named Joyce Gilos Torrefranca.
She posted it on her Facebook page with the caption:
“I got inspired by a kid.”
The story has since been picked up by a number of different news organizations.
And Torrefranca posted a follow up comment saying:
“I didn’t think that a simple photo could make a huge difference.
Thank you guys for sharing the photo.”
“I hope Daniel’s story will continue touching our hearts so that we will always be inspired and motivated in every situation we face in life.”
I couldn’t agree more.
I also keep thinking what this says about Daniel.
If he’s this determined to do his homework now, can you imagine what he’s capable of accomplishing as he gets older.
As I said:
You can learn a lot from a kid.
Here is a link to Joyce Gilos Torrefranca’s Facebook page:

One last note.
Several of you were wondering if Daniel has gotten any help.
I was reading through the comments and Abbie Azeuqorb wrote:
“He got help from the people within the city and the government.
He was given new school supplies and LED lamp.
Two police officers brought him to the mall and bought him a toy police car since he wanted to be a cop or a doctor.
And his mom I think was given some money for livelihood.”
Great news!
Go Daniel.

It’s Better to Give
Thank you for sharing Bobby G Gonzales
