I’ve come again to the unwelcome conclusion that there are a couple of particular challenges in my life that are not going to get up and go away. Nor will they just solve themselves. A math problem is a problem that needs a “someone” to solve it. A mountain that stands between you and your goal cannot climb itself, remove itself, or build you an escalator… you must climb over it or tunnel under it to reach the other side.
I’m 48 and there are parts of my body that hurt more than ever and don’t work nearly as well as they once did. I can either lay there and wait for the pain to go away(I imagine a casket)… or I can get myself down to the gym and work through the pain so that at least behind it there may exist a greater strength to push through it and give me more stamina for the journey over the mountains towards my goals.
No one is coming to rescue us from our path. How do you rescue someone from their goals or their path? Others have their own path, their own pains, and their own mountains to climb. Not to say we must or even can do it alone. There are those who can and will assist us, (Step 2) but we must be willing to ask… which in itself requires that we (Step 1)GO FOR IT, and do all we can to prepare ourselves for the journey ahead. A journey that we know from experience will require commitment, focus, resilience and many other things. A journey that will simultaneously help us to discover many strengths and strengthen many things. A journey that began with a single step forward…and a journey that can only continue forward if we take another step.
I loved this picture again taken from the newly formed FB page “Distilled Wisdom“. It shows someone who, in the face of adversity, and facing into the storms of life has followed these 3 rules…. (step 1) They are facing forward and going FOR what they want. (Step 2) They have asked for the umbrella and the raincoat and other help they needed …and (Step 3) The are determined and decided that they will end this day in a different and more desirable place than they began it.

Today I will GO for it, (I will GOAL forward)
I will ask for the help that I need (and I need help)
I will take measurable meaningful steps today… no matter what….
And I am prepared, I have an umbrella of resolve.. I know it will not be easy…because if it was, I would have don’t it long ago. Heck if it was easy, I most likely wouldn’t have wanted to do it in the first place.
